League play got chippy today as teams started improving and the competitive balance got tighter.
In the NBA, the Sixers fell twice including a tough Situation Tourney defeat by the Heat led by Gulliver Prep’s Manny Bloom who rode Ellory Browne and Theo Turner to grab the overall #2 seed from Donyell Marshall’s club.
Coach Steutel and the Celtics continued strong play to capture the top seed. Trey Britton Price has provided a spark to go along with the steady play of Ed Potter.
The Spurs ride a little momentum into the playoffs with strong play from Spain’s Alex Vergara, hot shooting Joey Barra and pleasant addition, Kolby Pistak.
In a pivotal game to avoid the dreaded 6th seed, the Lakers, Coach Samit Nurizade outlasted the reeling Thunder. Darbey, Horta and Devereux were enough to survive 6th man candidate, Eoin O’Neil and the Innis/Matthew duo.
In the NCAA, Coach Alan Keane and Florida lead the pack but following close behind is former Five-Star camper/ turned coach, Todd Cauthorn’s Kentucky Wildcats. Duke ousted North Carolina in a battle of Tobacco Road giving Coach Barnes his first victory on this side of the Atlantic.
Coach Crinich and Kansas have struggled. Crinich was defending Ivy league champion promoted to the ultra competitive NCAA.
In the Ivy league, Princeton has established itself as the team to beat. Standing undefeated but watch out for Harvard, Coach Harriet has explosive guard play and good post presence.
