This was our fourth session at UCF this summer, and third consecutive camp back-to-back. There were some stay-over campers, but most were a new crop of kids using the summer months to work on, and improve their game.
This session was mixed, it included both boys and girls from all across the globe. We had over 120 campers once again and the competition seemed to really be there. We had kids from England, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Panama, Germany and Canada; all trying to better there game, while attempting to show some US coaches their talent.
Post Draft on Day 1 it seemed inevitable that Coach Scott Adubato was destined for another shot at the Five-Star NBA Title after a loss in the previous weeks Championship, whereas last weeks winning coach, Chris Michaels seemed to have a long road ahead of him. Week two’s winning coach, Han Desir, struggled throughout the week; he was never able to find a five that worked together and had trouble managing what seemed to be a star-studded team, led by 2-time camper, Anthony Roberson (rising freshman).
After a grueling week of stations, drills, station 13 and station 14, led by Fabio Saviozzi of Italy, the playoffs gave us a rematch of the previous session, facing Coach Adabuto’s Thunder, against Coach Michael’s Celtics. Both were ready to play and both had dominated the league as of this point. The game was a great one, leaving it tied after regulation and an overtime period to play. In the end, Coach Adabuto was able to get his revenge for UCF III’s loss, and was able to coach his team to a 1 point victory. Adabuto’s team consisted of 5 all-stars this session.
