Greetings from the home of basketball, Springfield Massachusetts and the Springfield College where the game was invented…The traditional camp this week added a twist with 8 girls who along with 30 boys from Spain invaded the camp for the session. The Spaniards who have been on a month-long trip to the United States always save the Five-Star camp for last because we are the best. What were their thoughts about the other camps they attended ” yes we played many games but no skill development with drills” Claudia Baraut stated. Claudia will finish one more year of high school there before attending college. All the coaches agree she is a scholarship player here in the United States and she has aspirations of attending college here if possible.

The Springfield College girls camp isn’t scheduled to begin until August 4-7 so we brought in some local talent for a game.
(Below)- South Hadley HS (South Hadley, MA) represented by bringing down 7 girls to play against the girls from Spain. South Hadley was undersized and struggled to find their flow in the first half against Spain’s defensive pressure. The second half was much more competitive but South Hadley was unable to overcome the double-digit lead built by Spain in the first 14 minutes.
